A short series of workshops for youth ages 13-17yrs exploring an introduction to the rich and wonderful world of Physical Theatre.
After 20+ years of working within performance and theatre contexts, I am convinced that theatre practice can be as much about raising consciousness and connection as it is about creating strong actors and interesting stories for the stage.
For youth, the theatre training room can become a vital place for exploring identity, confidence and sense of place.
The type of training I'm offering is essentially about challenge and play co-existing. Both sides of the coin helping to both push our edges and delight in our strengths.
The four week course will run on Thursday afternoons from 4:45 to 6:15pm at the Riverside Community Centre in Lower Moutere.
June 13 to July 3rd.
The cost will be $60
We'll be exploring the fundamentals of the Suzuki method of actor training, which, in a nutshell, is the "martial arts" of theatre training aimed at developing very strong presence and vitality; and the Viewpoints, which is a brilliant technique of building spontaneity, ensemble and movement vocabulary.
